This is what you call unique nachos! The taste is so outstanding, you won’t be able to stop eating them! The creamy wasabi sauce, seared ahi tuna steak and refreshing toppings like avocado, cabbage and garlic greens make for a great appetizer to share or a great treat just for yourself!

Ingredients:

For the wonton chips:

  • 15-20 wonton wrappers, whole or cut diagonally
  • Sunflower oil, to cover wontons
  • A sprinkle of salt or seasoning over wontons

Toppings:

  • ½ pound sushi grade ahi tuna
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp Hamama extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise, I chose vegan mayo
  • 1 tsp wasabi paste
  • 1 cup green cabbage, finely chopped
  • 1 medium hass avocado, chopped
  • 1 Jalapeno, chopped
  • Hamama garlic greens

Other toppings:

  • Cilantro
  • Sriracha

Instructions:

For the wonton chips:

  1. To start, you can bake or deep fry your wonton wrappers. I chose to bake as it is a bit easier.
  2. Get out your wontons and a baking sheet. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper. Preheat your oven to 400F.
  3. While the oven is heating, get out a small bowl and add your oil to it. Add your wontons to the sheet and brush on your oil over each of them. Sprinkle a little salt or seasoning on each.

4. Place in the oven for 6-8 minutes or until golden brown.

5. When your wonton chips are ready, set aside.

For the toppings:

  1. Get out your ahi tuna and pat it dry on both sides. Lightly salt each side and add your sesame seeds as well.
  2. Heat your olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook your tuna steak for 1-2 minutes on each side.

3. When your tuna is cooked, set aside to cool.

4. For the sauce: Mix together your wasabi paste and mayo.

5. Get out all of your items and get ready to assemble.

6. Place your wonton chips on a plate, then add your cabbage, avocado, jalapeno, garlic greens and ahi tuna. Dollop your creamy wasabi sauce on top and enjoy!
